HIM has reportedly scrapped plans to release a live album they recorded from some recent shows in their hometown of Helsinki, but will instead reenter the studio to record some new material. Look for a new single in early 2004 to coincide with a German tour, as well as a new comp of remixes and unreleased songs. There will be a new video shot in early December, too. Exact dates coming soon.

Sundsvall, Sweden based metal band In Battle has announced that they have signed with Cold/Metal Blade Records. The band plans to travel to Mana Studio in Florida to work with producer Erik Rutan (Hate Eternal, ex-Morbid Angel) next March/April to record their debut for the label. It's expected to be out around summer 2004.

Prime is currently mixing their new self-produced album at Decibel Studios in Stockholm. It's due out this coming January in Scandinavia, Europe later on in the spring.

MIC Norway has posted a profile and interview with Platekompaniet, a Norweigan record store chain that concentrates on their own country's music and was recently awarded the 'Entrepreneurs of the Year' prize from Ernst & Young Norway.

Pitchfork covers the Motorpsycho/Jaga Jazzist horns "In the Fishtank" collaboration today. Check it out. Hopefully this releases' increased exposure for the group will lead to a solid internation audience and maybe even some US touring. Who knows? Jim- get me that streaming playlist already!

Norweigan viking metal band Enslaved has been confirmed for the Piorno Rock Festival 2004 on February 28 in Pinos Puentes (Granada), Spain. Other Scandinavian acts set to play include Dark Funeral, Evergrey, and Finntroll. More info: http://www.piornorock.com/

Dismember has set March 8 as the release date for their long-awaited new album "Where Ironcrosses Grow" on Holland's Karmageddon Media (nee Hammerheart Records). The band's upcoming double DVD "Live Blasphemies", featuring their entire show from May 27, 2003 at Klubben in Stockholm plus a 90-minute documentary, comes out January 26 on Escapi.
