There's a new Swedish supergroup in the works with Conny Nimmersjö from Bob Hund playing guitar, Jejo Perkovic from Bear Quartet on drums, Weeping Willows bassist Stefan Axelsen, Irya Gmeyner from Urga and Mats Levén (ex-Yngwie!) on vocals. They don't have a name yet, but recording of their debut album is set to begin in February with Soundtrack of Our Lives' keyboardist Martin Hederos making a guest appearance. Read more.

Swedish death metal band Vomitory will be entering Studio Kuling in Örebro, Sweden on December 8 with producer Henrik Larsson to begin work on "Primal Massacre", their fifth album. Bassist/frontman Erik Rundqvist has decided to no longer sing for the group, but will still lay down vocal tracks on the recording. Anyone who is serious about taking his place behind the mic is encouraged to contact the band at band@vomitory.net. The expected release date is April 19, 2004 from Metal Blade Records.

Check out an mp3 clip containing excerpts from five new Vintersorg tracks right here. The new album, entitled "The Focusing Blur", is due out next February on Napalm Records and is described by mainman Andreas Hedlund (also in Borknagar) as "both intricate and flowing, [holding] a nice balance between the usual Vintersorg elements, like harmony and cacophony, warmth and coldness, melodism and monotonism, speed and calmness, ambience and focus..etc.. the usual Vintersorg inclements and elements." The End Records will now be handling all US/North America distribution for France's Osmose Records, home of many fine Nordic metal acts. Look for the new Impaled Nazarene from the label collaboration in January.

Nasum is currently re-mastering and compiling their 2xCD "Blueprints for Extinction" compilation of old material at Soundlab Studios.

Racing Junior has just released "Waiting for a Car", the debut single from the new band Bunk. The band features Andreas Grøtterund and Leif Friman Koren from Anal Babies along with Bård Høvik (Kung Fu Girls) and Gisle Amundsen (Smörgardsbord) and they supposedly mix the sounds of Motown with Norweigan death-punk. An unnamed source from the British press describes them as "the sound of The Ramones on heat playing gospel in a flaming church." A ten-track debut full-length is due out on February 4, 2004.

I'm still bummed that Randy has postponed their US tour, but at least they'll be making it over here eventually. In other news, the band will be releasing a 7" version of the latest single "X-Ray Eyes" on the UK-based label Must Destory Music. Same songs as the CD version, but different artwork.

"Most of the fashionable bands don't sell records and I don't necessarily care for them. I listened to some of the latest darlings and they blow. Who's the one who thinks he's Mick Jagger and James Brown? Pelle from The Hives? He can suck my dick! Fuck that fucking bullshit fake, become your own person and get the fuck out until you do."

Holy shit is Jon Bon Jovi pissed off in an interview he did with Q Magazine! Out of hand, for sure. And even funnier, as Rocket.fm points out, is that earlier this year Mr. Bon Jovi was lauding the band in the press. Read more.

Also by way of Rocket comes news that Johan Johansson from KSMB has joined Diamond Dogs on bass. I already posted about it, but guitarist Strings aka Robert D. from The Hellacopters is working with the band now, too. They are all currently at SAE Studios in Stockholm laying down tracks for the new album, due out sometime next year.

In Flames have set "Soundtrack To Your Escape" as the title of their new album, due out March 29, 2004. The album was recorded in Denmark with producers Daniel Bergstrand and Örjan Örnkloo and is currently being mixed at Galaxy Studios in Mol, Belgium. Nuclear Blast will release the record in Europe, but the group is still negotiating for a North American label (I suspect they'll go major). Tentative tracklist, in no particular order:

01. F(r)iend
02. The Quiet Place
03. Borders And Shading
04. Discover Me Like Emptiness
05. Touch Of Red
06. Bottled
07. Dead Alone
08. Superhero Of The Computer Rage
09. Like You Better Dead
10. Dial 595-Escape
11. Evil In A Closet
12. In Search For I
13. My Sweet Shadow

The new Notre Dame album will be called "Demi Monde Bizarros (songs about sex, satan and sado-masochism)" and it should be out in December or January.

Limbo Central has posted an interview with Norweigan artist 1349 Rykkinn.
