A forty-five minute segment of Värttinä's 20th Anniversary Concert in Helsinki, at Aleksanterin Teatteri on Feb 28, 2003, (videotaped by DeCo Media of Helsinki), will be broadcast by Finnish digital TV Teema on New Years Day, January 1, 2004. A fifteen minute interview with Mari Kaasinen and Janne Lappalainen will start the program at 17:55, followed by the musical part of the broadcast.

Swedish rock n' rollers King are set to enter the studio in early January to record some new material. Plans are to release either a single in the spring or a full-length in Autumn, but there's nothing definite yet. There's plans for a video underway, too. Upcoming live dates for the group:

The tenth annual Spot Festival in Århus, Denmark has been set for the dates of June 4-5. The event will feature various up-and-coming Scandinavian artists, as well as panel discussions and seasoned professionals. Teenage Idols will be holed up in former cinema/studio in Solna, Sweden for the next couple of months with producer Jiri Adamik-Novak working on their new record. No official release date yet, but it could be out as early as next March.

MIC Norway has published an article on acclaimed Norweigan jazz vocalist Karin Krog and her recent trip to Japan. She was an early experimenter with mixing electronics and jazz and her next record will be released on the world famous ECM label.

Denmark's The Raveonettes will co-headline the NME music awards along with Har Mar Superstar at the London Astoria on February 8. They are actually the only Scandinavian group to make the mag's top 50 list this year, unless you count Junior Senior making the singles chart. Read the full list here.
