Norwegian avant band The 3rd and the Mortal will be releasing a new compilation CD entitled "EPs and Raritie" featuring the "Sorrow" and "Nightswan" EPs, as well as the b-side of the "Stream" single and the Japanese bonus track from the "In this Room" album. Look for it on March 8.

In other news, the band has already started work on their next album, tentatively titled "Projekt Bluebook - A Decade Of Endeavor". It is said to feature new, darker studio material plus some unlreleased live tracks.

And speaking of Startracks-related stuff, label head honcho Fredrik Holmgren says that Christian Kjellvander will be coming to the States sometime around July. He's yet to give up any details, but I'll see what I can pry out of him. He also reports that Kristofer Åström recorded a song written by Mattias Friberg of Logh. I think that's one of the tracks set for the new album with Hidden Truck, but I'm not sure. I figure we'll get more details on that as it gets closer to the release date.

The new album "Kings of Time" from Finland's Magyar Posse has been confirmed for a March 11 release.

Reknown and respected Norwegian label Smalltown Supersound is launching a new offshoot called Smalltown Superjazzz (yes, 3 z's). The Supersound label will remain home to Jaga Jazzist, Kim Hiorthoy, Martin Horntveth, Sir Dupermann, Mental Overdrive, Yuichiro Fujimoto, Lars Horntveth and recent signee Midnight Drummer while the new imprint will feature their definition of jazz music. Those acts include The Thing, Jazzkammer, Paal Nilssen-Love/Ken Vandermark, Lasse Marhaug and one more act not yet revealed.

The Danish/Norwegian SXSW showcase show on March 20 has been moved to "The Drink" or "Drink on 6th", as it is sometimes known.
