The website for 8thsin, the new band from black-metal legend It, now says that something new will be coming on August 8 at 8pm.
No big surprise here: Aftonbladet gives The Hives a perfect five out of five score for both their new album and their US tour kick-off show. "The world's best rock n' roll band" they say. Here's the record review with includes a couple sample tracks: http://www.aftonbladet.se/vss/noje/story/0,2789,507759,00.html (in Swedish)
The latest from Satyricon:
"We will be headlining (Wacken Open Air) Saturday the 7th of August doing a special set where we will perform Darkthrone songs with their singer the last 30 minutes of our show. Anyone who knows their black metal is aware of Darkthrone's policy of not playing live. They've decided to do this special event and asked us to be a part of it and that is of course a great honour. We're also glad that this historical event have the approval of Fenriz and Zephyrous. Bonds between Satyricon and Darkthrone have always been extremly tight and this is a great way of showing it. The thought of kicking into our opening song "Walk The Path Of Sorrow" in front of 30-40,000 people makes the wait almost unbearable. Some of you have have been sending concerned e-mails asking what the festival means by using the phrasing "last show forever" about our performance. We don't know WHAT THEY FUCK they are talking about and rest assured...Satyricon is alive and kicking as ever before!"
And with regards to US touring activities:
"No movement on the Frost case (concerning his recent visa problems). We've will be auditioning drummers in August. So far we've had no luck as some drummers we have contacted have schedules that doesn't allow them to tour with us or they turn out not to be good enough. We're hoping to return in Sep/Oct/Nov. So be patient, darkness always prevails."
The Haunted have set "rEVOLVEr" as the title of their upcoming fourth album, tentatively due out October 18 via Century Media.
Highly regarded Swedish grindcore band Nasum has signed with Burning Heart Records after putting out their previous three albums with US-based metal label Relapse. The alliance makes perfect sense as both the band and label are intertwined in many ways. Both are based in the city of Örebro and singer/guitarist Mieszko Talarczyk founded his Soundlab Studios with Mathias from now-current labelmates Millencolin. BHR will release the recently completed new album "Shift" in October and Relapse has already licensed it for the US and should hopefully have it out around the same time. Ritual will take care of Japan. Read more: http://www.burningheart.com/news/article.php?id=111

The mighty Switchblade has recorded two new songs for a 7" that they'll be bringing with them to the upcoming Ieper Fest on August 29 at Vort N´ Vis. One song features Mattias Friberg from Logh on vocals and additional guitar, so I'm definitely excited to hear it. That's not the only Logh connection either - Mathias Oldén engineered the session at Mission Hall.
