Doi, the winner of last February's demo contest at Gaffa, has signed with Quartermain Records. Listen to some tracks from the minimalist post-rock act here: http://doi.mymusic.dk/
A full-length album will released this coming spring.

The latest from Satyricon:

"Sorry for not keeping touch lately, but we've been busy working! We are in middle of pre-production for our new album and we will start recording October 17th in Puk Studio in Denmark where we did most of "Volcano". We aim to finish the album in January followed by a late spring release. This means we should be ready to do a big festival run throughout the summer and hit the clubs in the fall. Things change and they can change fast too in this industry, but this is what we plan to do as it looks now. We'll keep you posted about this and other projects we are working on too, throughout the fall."

Mitek has posted the video for the track "Strum" from the new Folie album "Eyepennies": http://www.mitek-web.net/products/mitek22.html
I got a copy of this record last week and have been really diggin' it quite a bit more than I expected. Glitchy techno with enough pop melody to gain more widespread appeal. Perhaps I'll even post a track myself eventually.

Denmark's Tiger Tunes has announced that the band will be on hiatus for an indefinite amount of time. Read the full statement: http://www.tigertunes.dk/

MP3: The Dweller - May of '92 (or maybe '93)

The week of undiscovered music continues with a track from The Dweller. Taking obvious cues from Leonard Cohen, The Dweller aka Robin Björkman does the classic morose singer/songwriter thing. This particular song comes from the "Duets" CD which features him pairing up with a different guest vocalist for each of the six tracks. As one would expect, the results are mixed, but I like this song the best. Susanne Henningsson's voice has a good timbre to match Robin's. And hey, there's even a video for the track on his website.

The Dweller - May of '92 (or maybe '93)

As announced yesterday, it's demo week here at It's a trap! and today's featured artist is Pello Revolvers. The band plays indierock with a strong traditional folk influence. Think a Northern European version of The Pogues mixed with a bit of The Clash. The can definitely hear the latter's influence on the song I've posted today. The group's latest EP "No spare tyres" was released just a few months ago and you can hear a couple more tracks at the band's website or their myspace page. I'm a big fan of bands that inject new life into old roots music and these guys are a perfect example.
