I don't know how exactly I got roped into this, but I'm the media sponsor for a Sunday afternoon club event in Stockholm called 'For the Record' at the downstairs lounge in Café String. Obviously, I don't get a chance to attend in person, but there's quite a cool lineup of artists booked:

07/18 - Britta Persson, Thomas Denver Jonsson
07/25 - Dialog Cet
08/08 - Edson, Emil Jensen
08/15 - The Virtues
08/22 - Labrador Records day
08/29 - Filled

Should be fun I hope. Check out a flyer here: http://www.itsatrap.com/pix/ftr.jpg

Before heading out on vacation, MIC Norway has posted a round-up of transcriptions and notes from the 'Music Information Beyond Politics, Market, and Media' conference: http://www.mic.no/mic.nsf/doc/art2004070912004057964293
There's quite a few interesting topics addresseed there that appear to be worth looking into, especially if you're curious about the subject of cultural identity in an increasingly international world (and marketplace). It is definitely interesting to read about how Norway (and the rest of Scandinavia) tackles all the issues surrounding the globalisation of the art world.

Long-running Swedish death-metal act Grave reports that after three weeks at Abyss Studios, they are now finished with their new album "Fiendish Regression". A total of eleven tracks were recorded, nine of which were brand new. The others include a cover of the classic St. Vitus tune "Burial at Sea" and a re-recording of the old song "Autopsied" which originally appeared on a demo way back in '89. "Fast, heavy and brutal is the only way to describe it," they say. Look for a European release on Century Media sometime around late August.
