I've recently spent a lot of time revisiting Strip Music these past couple weeks, so I find myself listening to The Kick's new single "Rubicon" and wishing the beat was heavier. But then I come to my senses and realize that it's more than fine as-is and that my prejudiced preconceived notions about what this sort of music ought to sound like are plain foolish. It is what it is and it's good!
I've only seen one confirmed date so far (July 12 in Seattle w/Society Nurse), but it looks like Swedish hardcore act Makabert Fynd is touring the US in July.
Swedish label has a new website and a whole host of new releases on the way -- First up is the Makthaverskan 7" "Antabus" on May 13 which comes packaged with a totebag and is limited to a mere 120 copies and contains tracks that "will never be released anywhere else." Wish it wasn't 20 EUR, but I guess that's what I get for living in the wrong part of the world. Luxury also has the self-titled debut 12" from new signing Katakomb coming on May 11 as well as a digital single from new act Hagaliden on May 6, plus a new 10" EP from My Darling YOU! (also May 13) and then in June, an LP from Palpitation. Read more: http://luxxury.se/
Lykke Li's new video for "Sadness is a blessing", featuring fellow Swede Stellan Skarsgård (and star of films such as "Anita: Swedish Nymphet" and "Tabu", as the excellent book "Swedish Sensationsfilms" informs me), is now online: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xu-b3u5jDiU
