MP3: Fontän - You, me & a tree

The word that best describes Fontän is cinematic. It's an intriguing blend of electronic and acoustic instrumentation painted with a broad emotional palette. Often playful, joyous even, but also languid and brooding as on the track I've posted today (which happens to feature guest vocals from Sarah Assbring aka El Perro Del Mar). What can I say? I like droning pop. But I also like how the album "Aktionskammarn" runs the gamut from happy to sad and back again, sometimes within the context of single track. The composition and arrangements are exceptional as well - Fontän shows deft control over their pieces despite the variety of sound. Again, it's this embrace of diversity that makes the music so strong. Cerebral, but not necessarily challenging if you catch my drift. Very recommended.

El Perro Del Mar was supposed to open for Camera Obscura on their upcoming UK tour, but I believe she got sick and had to cancel. Have no fear though - The Tiny will fill in with their own particular brand of melancholy Swedish goodness:

10/16 - Cabaret Voltaire, Edinburgh
10/17 - Jabezz Clegg, Manchester
10/18 - The Scala, London
10/19 - Thekla, Bristol
10/20 - The Social, Nottingham

Video mix: KVLR, El Perro Del Mar, Totalt Jävla Mörker, Entombed, Division of Laura Lee, Abhinanda, more...

Hybris will be releasing the debut album from The Sweptaways, a 28-strong all-female indiechoir from Stockholm that only performs hit covers. They're previously worked with many big names such as Jens Lekman, Jenny Wilson, El Perro Del Mar and Blood Music, so expect good things. Release date is set for November 22.

El Perro Del Mar will support Camera Obscura on their upcoming UK tour:

10/17 - Jabezz Clegg, Manchester
10/18 - The Scala, London
10/19 - Thekla, Bristol

Seattle-based label The Control Group, the same folks that brought over Figurines, has licensed El Perro Del Mar for US release. It officially comes out over here on November 7, but you can always still buy the original Swedish release right here: [click here]
Look for Australian and New Zealand dates to be announced shortly.

El Perro Del Mar's self-titled album on UK label Memphis Industries will be released in the US, Australia/New Zealand and Scandinavia this coming fall. Details to come. In the meantime, buy the original full-length on Hybris right here: [click here]
